Computer automation of spectrophotometric and colorimetric measurements

Abstract

The spectrophotometric and colorimetric measurements are frequently practiced in the control and research laboratories. In the Bulgarian conditions they are conducted most often by means of cheap (non-automated) spectrophotometers, since the price of the computerized devices of that type makes them too expensive for many laboratories. At the same time the laboratories dispose of computers, involved in routine activities such as text processing and computations. This paper presents a solution of the problem for automation of the spectrophotometric and colorimetric measurements by combination in a unified spectro- and colorimetric system a computer and the most widely spread in Bulgaria spectrophotometer -- Spekol-11. The spectrophotometer and the computer in the system can be used at each moment as independent devices for other purposes without any changes or switching.
