Abstract

Sexuality is now accepted as an integral part of health professional training. This paper describes the development, use, and evaluation of an interactive, multimedia, computer-assisted learning program for sexuality education. In the field of sexuality education for health professionals, there is a significant lack of appropriate resources in the area of computer-assisted learning. This program was developed to meet the need for sexuality education in a multidisciplinary university curriculum with limited resources in terms of teaching time and trained sexuality educators. It utilizes a video sequence of a case simulation, interspersed with student exercises, as a focus for learning. Immediate feedback is provided for the exercises, with indepth information available in a resource collection. Evaluation of the program by colleagues and students indicated that it was acceptable in terms of practical usability and as a learning resource.
