Abstract

A computer-aided design package for small, two-pole alternators is described. Synthesis and analysis are partly based on traditional techniques but also rely on specially developed algorithms, employed where demanded by the particular topology of the high-speed, salient-pole machines. The package is implemented on the IBM PC, or compatible, using Microsoft QuickBASIC and a windows type user interface. The design process is interactive, with user intervention encouraged at various junctures and the use of standard parts invited where appropriate.
