Abstract

This paper considers the design of linear time-varying lowpass filters whose bandwidth varies according to a prescribed slowly-varying time function. The method is based on minimizing the mean square of the difference between the weighting functions of the time-varying and the corresponding frozen filter. The optimization is carried out by using a steepest descent method and a seventh order example is worked out.
