Abstract

A software system is presented which supports design, performance evaluation and implementation of control algorithms on process control computers. At application level as well as on operating system level it is completely modularized. The actual control program is put together by generating dialogue and evaluated by simulation on a host computer. Then it is transferred to a twin computer system consisting of one computer simulating and one computer controlling the plant including actual process peripheral equipment. There the control program can be tested and evaluated thoroughly in on line closed-loop processing mode under real-time conditions. The system works like a kind of a test-bench for control equipment comprising hardware and software components.
