Computer Aided Control Station with Coloured Display for Production Control

Abstract

In the chemical industry and in power plants coloured graphic systems are used to make supervision and control activities more comfortable. Coloured graphic representations can replace all known optical displays. Physical and psychic strain can be reduced by appropriate forms of representation, choice of colour and image arrangement in order to obtain better working conditions. With better working conditions and new possibilities of representing information it is possible to increase the efficiency of supervision and process control In the manufacturing industry only planning panels and simple display units for production control are realized. The efficiency is low, but with the help of computer aided information and planning systems the efficiency can be increased. For this purpose it was necessary to develop a new system for the plant control station, because the research report revealed that graphic systems could increase the efficiency of supervision tasks. Graphic systems enable us to realize new systems of man-machine interaction.
