Abstract

A tunnel-bridge has been constructed 40 meters above the bottom of the Grober avalanche path to improve the traffic safety along the Bschlaber access-road (Auserfern, Tirol). A maximum permissible static load of 20 kPa was allowed in the design criteria. The results of the three dimensional numerical simulation of the powder avalanche in the following are used as a basis for similar projects for the safety of railroads and highwaysystems in the Austrian Alps.
