Abstract

The flux and brightness are computed with the Synchrotron Radiation Workshop (SRW) for the infrared edge-radiation beamline at the electron storage ring, Aladdin. Similar computations are performed for a feasible far-infrared beamline at Aladdin and preliminary beamline geometries at other electron storage rings. A comparison is made between the use of edge radiation and ordinary synchrotron radiation as the infrared source. For the cases considered, edge radiation provides more flux with greater or comparable brightness for most wavelengths between 1 and 1000 μm, when comparing edge and ordinary synchrotron radiation sources located at the same distance from an entrance aperture.
