Abstract
Computational verbs are models of dynamical expertises of humans. They are used to transfer the continuum of dynamics of human perceptions into discrete events for representing, communicating and storing dynamical expertises. When good databases exist, but without information for rigorous analyses, humans use many methods including prediction to make decisions. When predictions are modeled by verbs, they are called verb predictions. In this paper, the concept of verb predictions is presented and illustrated by examples. Verb predictions are used to control an unknown chaotic system. First the experiences of human expert on control of this unknown chaotic system are summarized as verb statements. Then verb predictions are used to compensate the delay of controller for changing feedback control gain in different controlling phases. Computer simulations are given. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
