Abstract

Based on the analysis of the forces acted on the small-diameter steel pipe piles, an analytical model of plane rigid frame considering the pile-soil interaction is presented. Soil between group piles is simulated by a series of horizontal springs, and the computational formulas for inner force and displacement of steel pipe piles are deduced on the basis of Winkler elastic foundation beam theory. A comparison of the results computed by our computation methods and the field data obtained at the site of slope reinforcement is made, which shows that both of them coincide well. Moreover, the factors influencing slope reinforcement of group piles are discussed. The results show that the relationship between the top displacement of pile and pile spacing is a power function.
