Abstract

This study is all about the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of flow behaviour of three- phase fluidized bed. In the present work, CFD simulation for the bed dynamics of fluidized bed gasifier(FBG) using rice husk as feed and sand as the inert bed material has been modelled using CFD software, FLUENT. A 2-D CFD model based on Eulerian-Eulerian approach coupled with granular kinetic theory has been developed to simulate the hydrodynamics and flow structures of the FBG where velocity profile, bed expansion, solid movement have been studied. The developed hydrodynamic model will provide a powerful theoretical basis for the accurate design of FBG.
