Abstract
Co-polarized and cross-polarized radar cross sections(RCS) characterize the scattering of complex target completely. Calibration target is required to measure polarimetric scattering matrix(PSM) accurately. The commonly used calibration targets, such as dihedral, cannot apply to bistatic polarimetric RCS calibration because of its narrow cross-polarized returns. This practice devises a new calibration target for PSM measurement. It is a special screw with ten grooves which circumgyrating extend over a flat cylinder. We study the monostatic and bistatic full-polarization RCS by numerical calculation, and confirm that this calibration target has similar co-polarized and cross-polarized responses over a wide band both in monostatic and bistatic. The larruping scattering characteristic makes this target be suitable for bistatic full-polarimetric scattering measurement calibration.
