Abstract

Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine HAWT type design was developed with lower starting torque requirement through the addition of a rotor in wind turbine called Multistage Wind Turbine. With dual rotor, the wind turbine can rotate at lower wind velocity and more suitable with the wind condition in Indonesia. The best performance of this wind turbine was known by the Computational Fluid Dynamic simulation using MRF method by comparing C P value to TSR value on some wind velocity. The simulation data showed that wind turbine capable to produces energy at 3,5 ms wind velocity and the best performance of this turbine at C P 0.58 on TSR 3.03. With an additional rotor, wind turbine can capture more wind energy than the single rotor wind turbine.
