Abstract

We will review how the National Science Foundation (NSF) is presently dealing with computational materials research. Computational materials research is here defined broadly to include computational condensed matter physics and computational materials science. While commenting on computational activities across the NSF, the focus will be on activities associated with the Division of Materials Research and particularly the Materials Theory Program. These activities include those associated with the usual course of business involving unsolicited proposals from individual investigators and those involving the new coordinated government initiatives.
