Abstract

A pressure fluctuations at a blanch pipe are investigated for an evaluation of pressure fluctuations at a steam dryer, where had been damaged by high cycle fatigue due to acoustic-induced vibration in uprated condition at U.S. NPP. In this study, numerical simulations of the airflow around the branch pipe are conducted to clarify the basic characteristics of the resonance. The excitation of the pressure fluctuations at the branch is observed under various inlet velocity conditions. These fluctuations and inlet conditions are normalized, and the results show that the range and the peak of the amplitude are almost the same as those obtained in experiments.
