Abstract

In restructured power system; transmission congestion management is a very crucial task. There are technical and commercial methods to manage the congestion. The network rental gives commercial aspect and can be considered for congestion management. This research work presents a methodology for calculation of network rental in the presence of the wind generation in a restructured power system. To study the impact of uncertainty on network rental, IEEE 30-bus system is considered and modified slightly by adding two wind generators. Real system wind data of 52000 data points for one year duration is analyzed and the distribution found is lognormal. Corresponding generator output values, over a period of one year are considered. The data is actual historical records from Eruru wind farm, Andhra Pradesh, India.
