Abstract

The full Navier-Stokes equations for a high Reynolds number flow past a Wigley model was computed using the Implicit Approximate Factorization scheme. The Baldwin-Lomax eddy viscosity model, which is the two-layer algebraic model, was used for simulating the flow. The scheme resulted in good numerical stability and the computation took five hours. The wake distributions so obtained agreed reasonably well with measurements, as did pressure distributions. Shear stress distribution, obtained using the velocity distribution, showed poor agreement with measurements.
