Abstract

Free and complexed Pr3+ ion with reduced glutathione (GSH) have been studied in DMF and acetonitrile medium at different pH values (2, 4 and 6) in the presence and absence of Mg2+ ions through FTIR, comparative absorption spectroscopic analysis involving 4f-4f transition spectra. The interaction between the metal and ligand has been analyzed based on the computed values of different parameters, such as the Slater-Condon (Fk) parameter, Racah (Ek) factor, Lande (ξ4f) parameter, Nephelauxetic effect (β), bonding parameter (b1/2) percent covalency parameter (δ), oscillator strength (P) and Judd-Ofelt parameters (Tλ, λ = 2,4,6).
