Abstract

In modern radar and communication systems, phase noise is one of the fundamental parameters to measure the performance. For such systems, phase noise can put a constraint on the minimum detectable signal level which must be returned from the target. So, it becomes crucial to measure the system phase noise accurately and realize the potential region of operation of radar. This paper presents the study of phase noise, its computation and simulation for a frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar transmitter. The simulated result validates the theory and the computed result.
