Abstract

In this paper, a novel Compton scattering tomography (CST) method using an annular detector for measuring density variations was proposed. The purpose of this study is to improve the collection efficiency of traditional CST and to significantly reduce the detection time down to minutes per voxel. The simulation setup was built in the GEANT4 software. Monte Carlo simulations were performed, revealing a depth positioning accuracy of ±0.5 mm for flaw and inclusion inspection and a tomographic resolution better than 2 mm.
