Abstract

We have calculated Compton profiles of neutral and ionized fluorine atoms using impulse approximation. The radial single-electron wave functions were obtained from Hartree-Fock atomic model. The Compton profiles of individual orbitals and the total profiles are presented for fluorine atoms with electronic configurations 1s22s22pn, with n=5, 3, and 1. The results from the present calculation are compared with those available in the literature for neutral fluorine. The theoretical values of Compton profiles presented here could be used to interpret cross sections of recent ion-atom collision experiments involving multiply-ionized fluorine atoms. The dependence of the Compton profiles on the degree of ionization is presented.
