Abstract

The generic name Compsosporiella is introduced for a pycnidial fungus with cuneiform conidia. The most unusual features, however, are the long conidiomatal neck and the presence of periphyses. The type species, C. deightonii , is compared and contrasted with similar fungi, including Ceratopycnis and especially Sarcinulella banksiae , which is known as the anamorph of the lichen Anisomeridium juistense .
