Abstract

The effects of crystallographic orientation and temperature on pseudoelasticity and recoverable strain levels under constant stress are revealed for the Co–31at.%Ni–27at.%Al alloy single crystals under compression. The single crystals demonstrate a perfect pseudoelasticity at temperatures as high as 170 °C, recoverable transformation strains of 4% along the [1 0 0] orientation and 2.5% along the [1 2 3] orientation, small stress hysteresis (<40 MPa) and high strength level against dislocation formation.
