Abstract

Purpose: The recently published guidelines by the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) still focus on high-quality chest compressions to minimise no-flow periods in paediatric life support. In infants compression depth should achieve at least 1/3 of the anterior–posterior chest diameter with a compression rate of at least 100 but no greater than 120min. Published figures of infant resuscitation assume the supine position to be the recommended one. Besides this, other positions were published1 or mentioned by paediatricians, but have not yet been evaluated in respect to quality of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
