Abstract

Narrowing of the common bile duct has been demonstrated in three patients with acute obstructive cholecystitis submitted to intravenous cholangiography prior to surgery. In each case the gall-bladder was found to be grossly distended at operation and it is suggested that enlargement of the viscus towards the porta hepatis explains this radiological sign.
