Abstract
The 'compressibility under deformation' effect observed in isotopic shift experiments is analyzed in a deformed Hartree–Fock model. The empirical parameter ξ deduced previously from experiment is found to be consistent with the calculated estimate using a realistic interaction in four f–p shell nuclei.
