Abstract

To meet the demand of the energy and bandwidth efficient transmission of image/video data in 5G with an improved visual quality at the receiver end, this work suggests an integration of compressed sensing (CS) with low density parity check (LDPC) codes and space time block codes (STBC). An algorithm for soft decision decoding of STBC followed by performance comparison with zero and no-zero entry STBCs is also reported. Upper bounds of error for a CS–LDPC and a CS–STBC system are also developed. The proposed soft decision algorithm gives a bit error rate (BER) of ∼10−3 at around −2 dB for 8 antenna STBC.
