Abstract

Differential Calculus has had diverse difficulties in the understanding of its diverse concepts, especially in the subject of the derivative, where it has been registered that the students develop an assimilation of algorithmic and mechanical type in the application of its derivation rules, disregarding the graphical and visual construction, which is important for an optimal development of the mentioned knowledge. For this reason, the methodology of didactic engineering was implemented in the subject of the derivative, in order to establish bases of epistemic and documentary type to know which are the situations that are generally presented around the teaching of this knowledge, based on the above a test of knowledge was applied to identify the degree of understanding acquired by teachers in training of academic program of Bachelor of Mathematics of the University Francisco de Paula Santander, in order to establish guidelines for the structuring of some didactic sequences that promote optimal learning of the derivative.
