Abstract

Highway agencies need to choose maintenance plans based on the functional performance of asphalt pavement. However, consideration of only this aspect cannot accurately reflect the remaining service life of the pavement. Therefore, eight evaluation indexes, including the functional and material performances, were selected for the Xiaoxiang Section of the Han-Shi Expressway, and a comprehensive performance evaluation and the ranking system were constructed based on a principal component analysis (PCA). The results show that the comprehensive performance evaluation method proposed in this study can accurately evaluate the remaining service life level of the alternative road section. In addition, the influence degree of each performance index on the comprehensive performance was sorted. Among them, the modified Paris parameter AJR has the greatest effect, while the riding quality index (RQI) has the least effect. The proposed method can provide a certain basis for the maintenance time and mode of asphalt pavement.
