Abstract

In geriatric medicine, overactive bladder, incontinence and nocturia are recurrently observed in the elderly demographic. The etiology of these disorders is often multifactorial, with prescribed pharmacotherapies, concomitant medical conditions, and physiological aging processes playing significant roles. For optimal therapeutic outcomes, it is essential for healthcare professionals to undertake a rigorous evaluation to elucidate the underlying etiological contributors and subsequently employ an integrative clinical approach. This review describes the prevalent urinary pathologies in the geriatric population and provides an in-depth analysis of the diverse factors that may compromise normal micturition in older age group.
