Abstract
The massive progress in the wireless market and cumulative traffic demand urged the network operators to opt new techniques like dense deployment of base station (BSs) to offer enormous data rate services with reduced operating expenses and energy requirements. These challenges encouraged towards the design of energy efficient BS snoozing and corresponding user association during the low traffic period with load balancing for guaranteed service quality for green cellular network operation. For the duration of little traffic, the corresponding BSs can enter into sleep mode after handovering its users to its nearby BSs, thereby saving energy. Message passing with Load balancing algorithm (MPLA) is proposed which exchange messages among BSs in a distributive manner and allows the BSs to end up with final decision on whether it should remain active or idle to decrease energy wastage. The handover process increases the burden in its neighboring BSs which can considerably reduce the data rate, hence the load balancing is done. Simulation results using MATLAB reveals that MPLA significantly reduce the energy wastage and improves the service quality to users.
