Abstract

Following the success of the 1985 CIRIA UEG ‘Design of tubular joints for offshore structures’ reference document, a new up-to-date publication has been produced by BOMEL with funding from the Tubular Joints Group. This document covers the latest codes of practice, empirical formulations and databases relevant to the design and reassessment of tubular joints. In addition to provisions for ultimate static strength and fatigue life determination, comprehensive guidance is given on materials, fabrication, welding, NDE, fracture mechanics, joint flexibility and repair. This document will be completed in early 1995, and produced in a loose-leaf format that will allow regular revisions reflecting the latest aspects of tubular joint behaviour.
