Abstract

As the number of large industrial, domestic and commercial consumers are increasing rapidly day by day, demand of power from the electrical utility grid increases continuously. Thus, there is increased global emissions due to the use of conventional energy sources. Renewable energy resources have become more widely integrated into the electricity system. Photovoltaic systems have become the most preferred resource because of their immense potential. Power converters and power tracking systems have been developed for efficient power from renewable energy sources as basic inverters are not suitable for large power applications. Multilevel inverters are a variant of two-level inverters which produces the smoother stepped output waveform by combining more than two voltage levels, along with multilevel inverter is used for either standalone PV system or grid tied PV system. There are different topologies used for the design of multi-level inverters with high voltage output and lower harmonic distortion. In this paper, performance of cascaded H bridge inverters of 5, 7, 9 and 11 level for single phase which is increase the level of voltage level as per topology. As described above levels has been checked using simulation and phase disposition level shifted by using PWM techniques in MATLAB.
