Abstract

A comparison is made between phases in the Bi2O3–MoO3binary. In recent years, compositional and structural details for phases in this system have become increasingly clear based on a combination of TEM, synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction and high-resolution neutron powder diffraction. The trends and common features are discussed in the context of catalytic performance, phase cooperation, and the site isolation concept (J.L. Callahan and R.K. Grasselli, AIChE J. 9 (1963) 755).
