Abstract
A simple semiempirical analysis based on quantum-defect theory is made to estimate the band gap variation with alloy composition in a large variety of mixed pseudobinary and pseudoternary chalcopyrite compounds. The results agree very well with the existing experimental data and with some recent model calculations.
