Abstract

Both quartz crystal microbalance and rotating disk electrode studies reveal the importance of the supply of and for altering the film composition and the reaction rate. If the potential was stepped to the mass-transfer-limited region, the film composition was found to depend on the concentrations near the electrode surface. In this study, the diffusion-controlled method was introduced to determine the film composition without changing the polarization condition and the electrolyte concentrations. When the potential was below vs SCE and the concentration ratio in solution was within 0.2–5, the overall generation rate can be expressed by the following relation .
