Abstract

Results of our investigations into the cosmic-ray heavy primary charge and energy spectra at Neepawa, Canada (geomagnetic latitude 61° N), during a time of high solar activity (August 1958) are presented. The total heavy-primary differential energy spectrum is shown to have the same shape as the contemporaneous α-particle spectrum but theL/M ratio shows an increase from (0.28±0.05) at kinetic energies over 1.5 GeV/nucleon to (0.43 ± 0.07) at energies less than 1.0 GeV/nucleon.
