Abstract
ABSTRACT The chemical composition of the essential oil of Tordylium apulum L., (Fam. Umbellifereae), was investigated by GC/MS. From 66 compounds detected, 57 were identified, representing 88.45% of the oil constitution. The major components of the oil were α-humulene (28.71%), octyl hexanoate (11.73%) and farnesyl acetone (9.82%). Furthermore it was found that the oil of T. apulum exhibited a definite antibacterial activity against Gram(±) bacteria
