Abstract

A metastructure with periodic layered rubber-concrete structure and embedded rubber-mass resonators was designed and manufactured. The metastructure has two wave attenuation mechanisms from wave dispersion of one dimensional periodic structure and bandgap of local resonation. Sweep frequency testing and seismic spectrum testing were performed to reveal the vibration attenuation performance. Compared with traditional foundations, the meta-foundation exhibits much more excellent vibration attenuation performance with much greater wave attenuation and wider bandwidth. The research reveals that the metastructure with periodic layered structure and rubber-mass resonators has significant advantages in wave and vibration attenuation.
