Abstract
In this paper, the baryon is regarded as a two-body system which consists of a diquark and a quark. The baryon spectrum is calculated by means of the composite particle representation based on the nonrelativistic potential model. The effective quark potential is determined by fitting the meson spectrum. Therefore, there is only one adjustable parameter in the calculations, and that is the harmonic oscillator frequency ω in the single-quark basis. The theoretical results are reasonably consistent with the experimental data.
