Abstract

We discuss the motivation for constructing composite models for quarks and leptons, the hopes we have for a successful model and the difficulties encountered, so far, in this field. This paper corresponds also to the contents of lectures given at the SLAC Summer Institute (August 1982) and at the DESY Workshop on “Electroweak Interactions at High Energies” (September 1982).
