Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of composite external fixator on metaphyseal fractures in children. Methods From July 2010 to January 2015, 17 children with metaphyseal fractures were treated by composite external fixator. Results All the children had a mean follow-up of 11 months (ranging from 6 to 36 months). All the fractures healed, the excellent and good rate of limb function recovery was 88.9%. Conclusions The composite external fixator is a statifying technique to treat the metaphyseal fractures of children, which has advantages such as not over-articular stable fixation, early activities, avoiding epiphyseal injury again.
