Abstract
CGO-LSCF composite membranes have been characterised with a view to applications in oxygen separators for oxyfueled boilers in Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) systems. Although commonly believed to be chemically stable together, evidence is presented that an interdiffusion reaction occurs on sintering at 1250ºC for 4 hours. Isotopic oxygen exchange measurements show that this does not appear to have any detrimental effect on the oxygen exchange properties. Similarly, electrical conductivity was also measured, and no detrimental effect was observed for these properties.
