Abstract

Floristic composition of riparian vegetation of the Reconquista river and its anthropic alterations . This paper analyses the riparian vegetation of the Reconquista river (Buenos Aires Province, Argentina) and the anthropic alterations which are taking place. Floristic samples were taken at different locations under the Braun-Blanquet´s methodology. The results allow us to divide the river in three sections, from its head waters to its confluence, showing a decrease in helophytic species and an increase in allien ones. These changes are due to the urbanization effects. To solve these problems restoration is needed. This could preserve the ecological balance of the watershed and also increase the aesthetic and recreative value of the studied area.
