Abstract

The excitation functions for the reaction Al/sup 27/(d, alpha ) are measured at deuteron energies of 2 to 10 Mev. Separate excitation functions are determined for the first five alpha groups. The experimental results are compared with statistical-model calculations in which the summations over all the residual-nucleus states are replaced by a particular integral. The experimental and theoretical excitation functions are in agreement. (T.F.H.)
