Abstract

This work studies regular variations caused by the effect of O1 and M2 tidal waves on magnetospheric current systems. The response to the tidal effect has been calculated using the magnetic field paraboloid model. A model of origination of the geomagnetic variations with O1 and M2 tidal wave periods has been developed. The values of such variations, which originate as a result of tidal deformations of the current system in the magnetosphere, are 0.2÷0.9 nT. The calculated values coincide in magnitude with the processed geomagnetic data obtained at the Paratunka geophysical observatory.
