Abstract

This chapter reviews complexes of zirconium and hafnium in oxidation states 0 to +II. Corresponding to states +I and below, the bis(arene), sub-valent Zr arene, bipyridine, and biphosphinine complexes, and the 0 and sub-valent Zr and Hf carbonyl complexes are discussed. Corresponding to the oxidation state II, the π ligand-stabilized, bis(cyclopentadienyl) dinitrogen, and non-cyclopentadienyl dinitrogen, and pentadienyl complexes are reviewed. Zirconocene-mediated C--F activation and miscellaneous reduction chemistry of Zr are also discussed.
