Abstract

The bidentate ligands 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphine/arsine)ethane and 1,4-bis(diphenylphosphine/arsine)butane react with Group VI metal hexacarbonyls under ultraviolet irradiation to form compounds of the type M(CO) 4LL and M(CO) 2(LL) 2. The infrared spectra of the complexes indicate that there is an octahedral disposition of ligands around the metal atom. The interaction constants have been calculated.
