Abstract
The stabilizing effect of sodium tetraphenylborate (NaBPh4) in relation to aqueous and aqueous-ethanolic solution of Ln2+ and An2+ as well as U3+ has been studied. It was determined that stabilization of Ln2+ and An2+ occuured due to the formation of outer-sphere complexes of a [M(H2O)n](BPh4)2(M=Ln and An) composition. Stability constants β1 and β2 equal to 6.5 and 25.7 for Yb2+; 1.7 and 52.7 for Eu2+; 6.2 and 106.4 for Es2+, respectively were found. The assumption was made that stabilazation of Ln2+, An2+ and U3+ in water mainly occurs due to steric effects.
