Abstract
Several functionalized (η 3 : η 1-allylcarbonyl)iron tricarbonyl complexes obtained from electrophilic gem-dimethylcyclopropenes were oxidized with trimethylamine oxide or iron trichloride in methanol. The products which were obtained in good yields show that these complexes can chemically be regarded as valuable vinylketene precursors, which allows their rapid structure determination.
